What is “the light”?
The light is a positive soothing energy transmitted from the palm of the hand. It harmonizes your body’s natural energies, makes you more grounded, gives you better focus, better concentration. It relieves blockages and enhances the body’s ability to heal itself.

What is the difference between this and reiki?
They are similar. Both of them are forms of subtle energy. Reiki tends to focus more on healing and we focus more on [spiritual development] personal development, which we feel is much more important than just healing. We can not guarantee that you will get healed, but as you progress spiritual, healing is usually a natural by product. Reiki is organized differently from us. Reiki charges for its services. Our Light Energy Practitioners do not charge any fees for our services of giving Light.. We have centers around the world where you can visit to receive light. Several reiki practitioners have told me that reiki gives energy to one part of your body at a time and Light Energy Practitioners gives energy to your whole body at once.
Is Sukyo Mahikari a cult?
No. Members and guests are never coerced into any activity and can come and leave as they wish. When people practice Sukyo Mahikari, they do not give up their personal believes or independence or commitments to others. Indeed, they are encouraged to honor their commitments to the family and society as a way of experiencing personal and spiritual growth.
Does a person have to give up his or her religion?
No, Not at all. Many people with religious faith come to the center to enhance their experience of spirituality. Many of our members find it to be a nice supplement to whatever faith they practice. The often develop a better appreciation for their own faith as a result of this practice.
Does the practice of Sukyo Mahikari (Light Practitioner) solve particular problems?
The practice puts you in a better position to understand and solve your problems.
The spiritual aspect of people’s “problems” lies deep in the core of the problem,
a place they don’t usually look at and in fact don’t usually see. How a person views and approaches a problem can improve or worsen the situation. If one develops a better understanding of the universal principles that are at work in one’s life, and finds one’s way to more positive thoughts and actions in difficult situations through steady practice over time, one will be likely to achieve better outcomes. In that way, the effectiveness of Sukyo Mahikari depends on each individual. This practice helps and, through the light, supports people to improve their thoughts and actions.
