FAQ ~ Positive Light Energy ~ that De-Stresses And Re-Energizes You

What is the english translation of  “Sukyo Mahikari”

Sukyo means universal principles and Mahikari means light energy.

What is “the light”?
The light is a positive soothing energy transmitted from the palm of the hand. It harmonizes your body’s natural energies, makes you more grounded, gives you better focus, better concentration. It relieves blockages and enhances the body’s ability to heal itself.

Why is the light so special?
The light supports people’s own efforts by promoting spiritual growth. Our Spiritual condition really affects our everyday lives Spiritually, Mentally and Physically

Why is our spiritual condition so important?
Although it is invisible, it influences our lives greatly. I have seen it improve many people’s well being, relationships, health, success, and environment.

What goes on at your center?
We give light and we teach people how to give light. There are activities for parents, youth, educators, health care practitioners, and scientists. We have environmental activities such as gardening as a spiritual practice. In addition we have activities of Out Reach in the Metro Vancouver areas. If you have a half hour, make an appointment and come experience the light. There will be no charge.

Where does the light come from?
It comes from universal energy that is around all of us. Some people call it god, Karma, Divine Light Energy. We channel this energy and give it to you. We all are made out of energy. Your energy can influence my energy and my energy can influence your energy. Physicists will tell you that. In fact if you look at an atom you will see that the vast majority of an atom is energy. We can see electrons orbiting around neutrons and protons, but the space in between energy which we know little about. If a neutron were the size of a dime in the middle of a Yankee Stadium baseball field, the electrons orbiting around it would be in the parking lot. All the space in between would be energy. Therefore over 99.9999 percent of an atom we can not see or understand. Since everything is made of atoms that means 99.9999 percent of all things we have very little knowledge about.

Is this a religion?
Not in the traditional sense of the word. We think of it as a spiritual practice. A traditional religion is a set of believes that preclude you from believing any other set of believes. [Religions typically preclude their followers from learning or believing in the tenants of other faiths.]
Sukyo Mahikari is not like that. Sukyo Mahikari teaches you that if you give and receive light, good things will happen , but does not force you to give up your other beliefs. In fact it encourages the practice of other religions because it promotes principles that are common to most religions and spiritual practices. Many of our members find it to be a nice supplement to whatever faith they practice. They often develop a better appreciation for their own faith as a result of this practice. Also you can practice this at any level you want. Some people come to the center all the time. Others just give light to themselves and their families.

Have there been studies done to prove that the light has an effect?
There have been studies and some are mentioned on Wikipedia. You can also ask others about their experience with the light. However the easiest way to learn what the light can do for you is to experience. Just after 10 minutes of receiving light, most people can feel a positive shift taking place in their minds and bodies. After receiving multiple times, many people experience miraculous effects. However, it varies from person to person what they feel and how much they feel it. (My experience with Anne Lincoln, burn victim, sprained ankle. ) One man told me “I gave you the hardest assignment I could give anyone which was to work on my neck which no one has been able to help. What you did was the only thing that has worked.”

Why do you give light?
We feel this is the best way we can improve the world. Our mission as an organization is to be of service to the world. Also as we help others we help ourselves. We receive even more light than the person, than the people to whom we give. That is why we volunteer and we do not charge for this. We feel it is a gift from God and it would be like charging for sun shine.

How do you make money?
Mostly through the contribution of members. Although guests are allowed to contribute, they do not have to. No one will ask you what contribution you have made. We feel it is between you and God.

How do I know this is real?
Try it. [If you are at a fair ask someone who has just received whether they thought it was worth the 10 minutes]. If you look at the diversity of our members in our local Vancouver Center alone, you know it must be real. Nothing else could appeal to so people of so many faiths, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and countries.

Will I feel or see the light energy?
A few can see it. Most people feel it. After receiving it several times almost everyone can perceive the positive difference it makes in their lives.

Will light heal me?
We do not advertise ourselves as a healing practice. What we do goes way beyond healing. We work on [developing you spiritually] making you a better person, spiritually and mentally and as a by-product of that, your body is in a better position to heal itself physically. Therefore, your overall health is likely to improve, even if the specific malady does not improve right away. More importantly, other miracles may occur. Most people who are suffering from an illness think that recovery from the illness is the greatest thing that can possibly happen for them, which is often not the case.

What is the difference between this and reiki?
They are similar. Both of them are forms of subtle energy. Reiki tends to focus more on healing and we focus more on [spiritual development] personal development, which we feel is much more important than just healing. We can not guarantee that you will get healed, but as you progress spiritual, healing is usually a natural by product. Reiki is organized differently from us. Reiki charges for its services. Our Light Energy Practitioners do not charge any fees for our services of giving Light.. We have centers around the world where you can visit to receive light. Several reiki practitioners have told me that reiki gives energy to one part of your body at a time and Light Energy Practitioners gives energy to your whole body at once.

Is Sukyo Mahikari a cult?
No. Members and guests are never coerced into any activity and can come and leave as they wish. When people practice Sukyo Mahikari, they do not give up their personal believes or independence or commitments to others. Indeed, they are encouraged to honor their commitments to the family and society as a way of experiencing personal and spiritual growth.

Does a person have to give up his or her religion?
No, Not at all. Many people with religious faith come to the center to enhance their experience of spirituality. Many of our members find it to be a nice supplement to whatever faith they practice. The often develop a better appreciation for their own faith as a result of this practice.

Does the practice of Sukyo Mahikari (Light Practitioner) solve particular problems?
The practice puts you in a better position to understand and solve your problems.
The spiritual aspect of people’s “problems” lies deep in the core of the problem,
a place they don’t usually look at and in fact don’t usually see. How a person views and approaches a problem can improve or worsen the situation. If one develops a better understanding of the universal principles that are at work in one’s life, and finds one’s way to more positive thoughts and actions in difficult situations through steady practice over time, one will be likely to achieve better outcomes. In that way, the effectiveness of Sukyo Mahikari depends on each individual. This practice helps and, through the light, supports people to improve their thoughts and actions.
